1. Background
Wild care Agro Action and Charitable Organization (WAACO)is is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-partisan organization which established to protect man made actions that affect the wild life, environment and human that support climate disasters which deteriorating and hugely impacted to the human and environment globally especially most vulnerable people .
Wild care Agro Action Charity Organization founded by youth members with initial local name (Youth Development association) means Help your Community in need) since 2019 After having been implemented support services in, Education, WASH, Health ,child protection , both Rural community and urbans at that time and COVID-19, in specific areas by using contributions/funds from community members and board of the organization, the organization officially registered as Civil Society Organization (CSO) in charities and societies agency of federal democratic republic of Ethiopia in (June 10 2024 ) Register No. 7317 with the new name “(Wild Care Agro Action Charitable Organization). As an indigenous organization, we are committed to take vital role of reconstruction of the country through development work with all sectors of the society. Also, as a grass-root organization, we have capacity to assess the local needs,
analyze, identify, plan and develop project proposals reflecting the felt needs of the society across sectors such as critical problems related to climate change, wild life protection and Environment, health needs, food insecurity, and gender inequality matters to create resilient environment, quality access of services of protection, education, health, water, sanitation, and livelihood development programmers for vulnerable groups of the society, as well as women‘s empowerment, prevention of GBV and gender equality matters. Wild care Agr-Action, as a grass-root organization, we have capacity to assess the local needs, analyze, identify, plan and develop project proposals that reflecting the felt needs of the society, at the same time, we will be able to implement, monitor and evaluate humanitarian response programmers effectively.

- WCAACO ORG was established to help people in need by proving humanitarian response for vulnerable groups, prevention of GBV, livelihood and protection child service, planned to implement small project “improving livelihood for vulnerable poor women households”.
The second project was.;– improving livelihood for vulnerable poor women house hold
The organization’s board committee contributed 330,000 Ethiopian Birr to support for 20 women households so as to strengthen their existing petty trade specifically, fruits sellers. It has three Phases, each covers 5500 ETB cash for individual women household. The selection of this fruit type is accorded that the prime demand of wider community consumers at all times is Tomato. This type will probably result significant opportunity for the women households.
Period and Location… Awbare( sub village called , Gobyaray
Project duration (This is a 6 Months project, from 2 August 2024 and will end Jan 28 2025. The project will support 20 targeted women households, and will offer 5500 Birr/women in every of the three phases planned. The project intervention location is Gobyaray kebele of of Awbare districts .
Objectives
The main objective of this project is to strengthen livelihood income for vulnerable women households to support petty trade.
Background
Recurrent drought and conflict happen in Somali region has caused loss of livestock and agriculture which has severely affected on pastoral and agro-pastoral communities’ well-being. Conflict and natural displacement induced IDPs has increased over the last five years in search of living and safety. Thus, it is obvious that concurrent issues such as inflation, unemployment, and rural to urban migration leading to resource competition are overarching challenges of life in Gobyaray kabale in Awbare distric(t jijiga zone in somali Region region Ethiopia .

Even though crises have impacted the entire life of the population, IDPs and host community are among the most affected groups, specifically of the poor, and vulnerable households are at risk of food insecurity. According to the assessment, the target groups were 40 women households who’s their livelihood depends on petty trade mainly on fruits, butcher and milk.
.This proposal address problems of livelihood activities for selected women households, and doesn’t reflect the intervention of the Three (3) selected business types. Therefore, 20 women households selected to support through providing direct cash support and have been given awareness training. To address the needs of poor and vulnerable households whose existing petty trade is affected by crises? The focus was existing petty trade, the capital in ETB, average of daily income in ETB. Based on identified challenges, this proposal discusses just a necessary support or solutions to overcome challenges faced by women households. In addition to the environmental restraints, there are problems affected by vulnerable women. Such factors include exposure to sun light causes to loss of quality of fruits, Devaluation of Birr, lack of relevant support or interventions, unbalance of family needs and capital are all challenges hindering the livelihoods and entire living conditions of vulnerable people in the town.

WCAACO ORG has made enormous contributions to uphold the wellbeing of its target beneficiaries via devising corporate social responsibility that encourage shared responsibility. This strategies brought significant differences in the life of the community by improving the health,

economic bargaining capacity of households, create access to social services, reduce new HIV incidents, reduce HTP such as Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM Milk-teeth extraction, Early/Child marriage (marriage less than 18 years), and Marriage by abduction that improve the rights and the life of
the vulnerable women, girls and children and education performance etc.
The organization also exerts its effort to create a self-reliant community through building the capacity of the target community and community structures to claim rights, bear responsibilities and collaborating with various stakeholders in the development endeavors. At grassroots level, the organization closely works with community members and community based social service providing institutions, mainly hospitals, health centers, legal service providing institutes, government line offices and elder. Such arrangement helped WCAACO ORG to achieve meaningful development changes in the lives of the poor and marginalized women and children in the community on top of its benefit to innovate development modalities and approaches.
This document presents WCAACO ORG’s major accomplishments, challenges faced and lesson learned in the course of implementing its projects in the fiscal year. Thus, the annual report articulates the major activities carried out for the year start from 2019 up to may 10 2025
WCAACO ORG purposefully devised its program interventions in four core programmatic areas taking in to account its excellence and accrued experience in the past years.
Registration and Provision of care and support to the vulnerable women and children such as shelter, food, clothing and medical treatment, psychosocial support for the most abused women and victem childrens, Skill development training which help them to be self-supportive,public awareness creation and regular public sensitization on HTPs HIV/AIDS and awareness creation for the media on the dissemination of information on prevention of HIV/AIDS and FGM eliminations and the role of the community in prevention of HTPs.The Achievements gained under these activities of the project intervention areas are presented as follows:
1.1. Registration and Support of Vulnerable women and girls
In this activity the organization planned to provide shelter, food, clothing, and medical treatment. The Vulnerable women and children able to move out of the rehabilitation program when personal or family situation improves.
Therefore, during the implementation of this activity the organization has registered 150 vulnerable women and children in the rehabilitation center of the organization and provided support such as shelter, cloth, food and medical care.
In addition to this, the organization also provided structural learning session related reading and writing to vulnerable women and girls live in the center to increase and improve the literacy of the women and girls in the center.
1.2. Provision of food, shelter and medical Support for vulnerable women and children
WCAACO ORG implemented care and support activities that has been designed to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable women and children and provide support to the vulnerable women, girls and Orphans Children and family members. The activities specifically focused on promoting community based care and support through mobilizing the community to address and accommodate the needs of the Vulnerable women, girls and Orphans through traditional and extended family mechanisms,by providing to access basic health care, food, shelter, education and other essential social services.
During the implementation of the activities, The organization provided support 150 needed of vulnerable women and children in the rehabilitation center of which 127 were women and 13 children’s were benefited and provided support such as shelter, clothe, food and medical care.

- Psychosocial counseling Support:-
The psychosocial support provision is aimed at ensuring the psychosocial wellbeing of the vulnerable female girls in unwanted pregnancy and children without parent to cope with the psychosocial distress.
The implementation period, WCAACO ORG supported 50 women and girls received counseling, and psychosocial support
1.4. Skill development Training
The organization conducted Skill Training development program which were designed to enhance capacities of local communities in general and the most vulnerable segments of society such as female and household head children in particular through the provision of skill training. In addition to the set of supports mentioned above, economic empowerment initiatives has been made to strengthen the capacity of vulnerable female and , household head children by providing them vocational and other marketable skill trainings.
During the implementation period, 50 vulnerable women and girls have received vocational training in Tailoring fields.
1.5. Awareness creation and Community Mobilizations
Awareness creation activity is one of the major strategies applied in order to reach out to the target group. This has been carried out in various ways which include community conversation, female discussion group, and youth discussion group, publishing and printing materials like Charts, posters and banners.

1.5.1. Community Conversation
Community conversation is one of the awareness creation strategies of the organization and implemented in all project areas.
In this program the organization has set up criteria used to establish the selection of the groups. One of the main criteria that should be selected the group members should not less than 30 and not more than 40, members of CC members should youth, women, Community leaders and local administration representatives should live in the village or Kebele. With these criteria the local administrative body was select and issued the organization as officially.
During in implementation of this program, the organization conduct Community Conversation provided 1200 community of the project area
1.5.2. Awareness Raising on Harmful Traditional Practices and HIV / AIDS
Female Genital Mutilations, early marriage, and prejudice are harmful traditional practices which are widely practices in ethio-somali Region. Among these harmful traditional practices Female genital mutilation is the chronic problem in the area.
These harmful traditional practices are directly or indirectly related to and transmit HIV/AIDS. . Female genital mutilation as an invasive procedure causes the use of contaminated and communal sharp materials.
Besides this, The WCAACO ORG implemented the awareness rising of HIV/AIDS to the target communities in the project areas
During this awareness promotion Community Sensitization, Peer Education, , material distribution were the main activities that mainly emphasis on familiarizing target community with pertinent facts on HIV/AIDS epidemic, decreased HIV/AIDS related stigma and discrimination by strengthening the comprehensive social and behavioral change responses to HIV/AIDS
During the project period the awareness on FGM and HIV / AIDS that creates an atmosphere where the people learn from primary source of information about harmful traditional practice and HIV/AIDS were conducted .
As a results, the implementation of this activities the major achievements were that a total of 1800 of beneficiaries of the general community of the project areas are aware and got a good knowledge about Female genital mutilations and HIV/AIDS
1.6. Celebration Activities
In order to bring high spirit hope and encouragement to the people living at our center it was necessary to consider Women’s Day, birthdays and mother’s Day. With this in mind, we got involved with the celebration of very special international events such as:
1.6.1. Celebration for March 8 day (World Women’s’ Day)
The organization has participated in the celebration of March 8th.which was organized by the Somali Regional State; Women and Youth Bureau. Using this opportunity, the organized was able to present its plans, activities, goal and the objectives to the participating organization and governmental offices

With the concept of promoting corporate social response, WCAACO ORG has been exerted utmost effort to bring potential communities on board to contribute moral and social obligation they have towards creating responsible, optimistic and diligent future generation.

3. Monitoring & Evaluation
Based the policies and regulations that have set up the monitoring and evaluation mechanism of the overall activities that aimed to provide a full operational behavior of the workers as well as the outcome of the project activities line with the project goal, target and objectives.
Based on the Organization’s own culture of monitoring and evaluation system, the organization conducted weekly, monthly monitoring, quarterly and annually monitoring and evaluation of the overall project activity with governmental stack holders by using check list based on project implementation plan
4. Challenges and Lessons Learned
During the implementation and operational period the organization the major challenges and lessons learned were as follows:–
- Challenges
- Lack of transportation facilities (Vehicles, Motorcycles etc.)
- Lack of sufficient number workers and turnover of staffs
- Limited functional offices.
- Limited child and women support due to insufficient resources and fund

Strengthen working relationship with government service providing institutes:
WCAACO ORG learns that, creating harmonious win/win working relationship with government service providers is way out from different gaps. This smooth relationship created with the government structures bestows opportunity to follow education performance of the HVC, health and psychosocial wellbeing of HVC, facilitate work place for beneficiaries, etc.
Need for Fund Diversification: Soliciting fund from different sources and strengthening local resource mobilization is crucial to strengthen WCAACO ORG program and attain directions of the strategic plan. Beside this, observing the community potentials is the other dimension that WCAACO ORG learned to fulfill the unfilled discrepancies in the course of implementation
Importance of staff capacity development: Staff capacity developments have two fold of benefits. One, it improves the competency, confidence and readiness of the staffs to accomplish quality service for the targets and it upholding the commitment and motivation of staffs towards accomplishing the assigned responsibility.
